2022 CLASS DESCRIPTIONS (Subject to Change)
RANCH HORSE PLEASURE
Is an alternative to Western Pleasure. Please choose to enter EITHER Ranch Horse Pleasure OR Western Pleasure. You may not enter both.
WALK WHOA (Leadline Kids)
Rail class where, as the name implies, the child is asked only to walk his/her horse. Riders can have an adult helper/leader assist. However, the rider should be the one to control the horse. Exhibitors showing in Leadline classes may only show in other Leadline classes.
STICK HORSE DOWN AND BACK (Leadline Kids)
Timed event similar to “down and back” where the rider of the stick horse will ride down to a bucket, round the bucket and continue back to the start line. Exhibitors showing in Leadline classes may only show in other Leadline classes.
ADULT/PARENT SHOWMANSHIP
Adult must use an entrant's horse. This is a 50/50 payback class with $5.00 paid at the gate to enter the class.
EQUITATION OVER FENCES
This class is judged on the rider's equitation while guiding their horse through a pattern over fences provided by the judge. Exhibitors will be required to go over fences. Choose only one over fences class based on your ability as a rider! Riders may enter only the ONE class that best represents their ability---cross rails, 12 inch, or 24 inch rail heights.
VERSATILITY
Class will consist of English and Western. English will be done first, then western. Exhibitors will be allowed 2 helpers. Helpers will enter the middle of the arena at the beginning of the class. Participants will begin on the rail in English Attire, upon the announcer signal, participants will go to their helper in the middle of the arena and be given 2 1/2 min to get their tack and clothes changed to Western Attire. Time will not start until ALL participants are in front of their helpers.
BEGINNER NOVICE WALK-TROT
Novice classes are Walk-Trot Classes. The Beginner Novice Walk Trot class is intended for riders that are in their first or second year of riding.
EGG AND SPOON, ADULT EGG & SPOON
Rider will balance a raw egg on a spoon while preforming the maneuvers and gaits requested by the judge.
Adult class is a 50/50 pay at the gate class.
FLAG RACE
Timed event in which you begin at the start line (timer) and travel to the far barrel with a flag sitting on it. Pick up the flag while going around the barrel (no multiple circles around barrel). Throw the flag in open ended barrel and cross the finish line. DO NOT criss-cross between the barrels while returning the flag to the barrel. Flag MUST stay in the barrel.
TANDEM BAREBACK, ADULT TANDEM BAREBACK
Class involves 2 riders riding one horse. This is an open, walk-trot rail class. Both riders must enter and pay for class. This is a 50/50 payback class. Please pay $5.00 each at the gate.
Adult/Youth Pleasure
Class involves 2 riders, one adult, one youth. This is an open, walk-trot rail class. Both riders must enter and pay for class. The adult shows one direction on the rail, switch, and the youth shows the other. This is a 50/50 payback class. Please pay $5.00 each at the gate.
BAREBACK HORSEMANSHIP
Class is typically a rail class, but may include pattern work at the judge’s discretion.
KEYHOLE RACE
Timed event where the rider gallops down the arena, into a keyhole shape made from flour/chalk on the ground, turns around and races back across the timer.
RIBBON RACE
Timed event where two riders each hold the end of a paper streamer and must ride to and around a barrel and back across the timer without breaking the ribbon. Both riders must enter and pay for class. This is a 50/50 payback class. Please pay $5.00 each at the gate.
BOOT RACE
All exhibitors ride at the same time.
Each exhibitor will be required to give up a boot before the race begins. Each exhibitor will be required to have a handler. Contestants line up at the start line on their horses. At the judge's cue, contestants will race to their handlers at the end of the arena. They will dismount and race to the pile of boots to reclaim (and wear) their boot. Exhibitors must grab their horse and race on foot back to the finish line.

Please arrive promptly to get in line. A working order may be utilized.
